100% Democracy starts Tuesday with EJ Dionne and beautiful posters!
Join us at Hopkins or virtually at 4:30 ET to kick off the 100% Democracy Celebration
Dear Friends,
The 100% Democracy Celebration starts Tuesday! I hope you’ll join us.
I’m so excited to be welcoming EJ Dionne, Miles Rapoport, and Students Learn Students Vote Coalition Director Clarissa Unger to the Hopkins campus for a conversation about EJ and Miles’ new book “100% Democracy: The Case for Universal Voting.” You can read an amazing book review by Didi Kuo from this Sunday’s Washington Post here.

Throughout the 100% Democracy Celebration, I’ve been challenging all the co-hosts and participants to imagine what it would feel like to live in city or a state or a nation where everyone voted. What music and sound would you hear as you walked into your polling place or filled out your mail-in ballot? What signs and art would you see around you? What precious memories would you recall?
I’ve been so blessed to have the opportunity to work with the Show of Hands team at the Globe Collection and Press to bring some of these ideas to life through a series of original prints. Today, I’m so excited to share our first poster which will be available (for free!) at Tuesday’s book talk.
These poster designs are based on feedback from more than 20 partners who participated in design sessions this winter. I hope it captures just a small slice of the amazing visions for a truly inclusive 100% Democracy that partners shared in those sessions. I am so grateful to Globe Press director Allison Fisher and the amazing students at MICA who have been hard at work printing these posters using Globe’s historic press!
I am looking forward to an amazing spring of working together with all of you to celebrate bold ideas moving us towards 100% Democracy!
Best,
Sam
